IPL 2018: IPL has Given Me a Stage to Express Myself Better - Krishnappa Gowtham

Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder, Krishnappa Gowtham has credited the Indian Premier League (IPL) for providing him with a bigger stage to express his game.

Meanwhile, Gowtham played a match-winning 11 balls 33-run knock against Mumbai Indians. Moreover, he is a decent lower-order batsman and has scored runs for any team he has played in the past.

However, with no game in the last week, he sits back to analyse things with an unbiased eye.

 “It’s a wonderful feeling that the game came out really well. Being a part of wining side is the best feeling you can have. Yes, people start recognising you and that’s the good part about it,” Gowtham said to Sportstar.

However, Gowtham insists he is still far away from proving his skills as a genuine all-rounder. He says he wants to perform with both bat and ball in the same game.

“I wouldn’t say I have proven my credentials as of now. There is something still lacking, I think I need to do both – bat and bowl – in the same game. That’s when I would say I have done something for the team. There are a lot of places that I can improve and I look forward to doing it in coming games,” he continued.

IPL has given a stage to express

Meanwhile, his name has become a trend since the whirlwind knock against Mumbai. Gowtham admits a stage like IPL provides a platform to players to showcase their talent.

“It’s a bigger stage, a bigger audience watching you and everyone knows what you can do with the ball and bat. It has given me a stage to express myself better,” he said.

However, before that, he was primarily seen as a bowler who could bat a little. Moreover, Gowtham admitted it was the role given to him, but it has changed now.

“My role was of a bowler who can bat, but right now the confidence the team and management has given me has changed that – when I am supposed to bat, I am a batsman, when I am supposed to bowl I am a bowler and when I am supposed to field I am a good fielder. These are now the roles assigned to me,” he laughed.

In conclusion, Gowtham said he wants to be a match-winner and win a couple of games for Rajasthan.
