India pacer, Jaydev Unadkat, became the highest paid Indian player in this year’s auction as the left arm pacer was sold for a whopping amount of Rs 11.50 Crore to Rajasthan Royals.

Unadkat was expected to be a hot property and two franchises viz Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings were behind him. They both pushed his bid beyond Rs 10 Crore before CSK backed out at 11 Crore.

It looked like KXIP will get his services, but Rajasthan Royals made a surprising entry by bidding Rs 11.50 Crore, to which KXIP had no answer. In the end, Rajasthan Royals went away with Unadkat.

He was purchased by Rising Pune Supergiant in last year’s auction at a mere price of Rs 30 Lakh. The chance given by RPS was a boon for him, and he went onto scalp 24 wickets in just 12 games during last year’s IPL.

Riding on his IPL success, he also made it to the Indian team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka where he scalped a total of four wickets in three games.

He is expected to retain his place in the T20I squad for the tour of South Africa.
