IPL 2018: Kings XI Punjab Owner Preity Zinta Expresses Her Excitement After Building Strong Squad

Kings XI Punjab have built one of the strongest teams for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Barring the second place finishes in 2014 and the semifinal appearance in the inaugural season, the Punjab-based franchise had not managed to progress from the league stage in the other eight seasons. That they are now desperate to change their fortunes is very much clear, as they retained just one player, Axar Patel from their last season.

And they made their intentions clear at the very start of the auction by going for almost every player.

At one point, Kings XI Punjab had bought five consecutive players including KL Rahul for Rs 11 crore. After going for almost every player, the franchise finally landed ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and went on to secure the services of some big names like Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul, Karun Nair and Aaron Finch.

The move eventually paid off as they ended up building one of the strongest sides for the upcoming season. In addition to all the players mentioned above, they also bought the likes of Chris Gayle, David Miller, Marcus Stoinis, Manoj Tiwary and many other notable players.

Now that a solid team has been built, the franchise has passed the first test, leaving co-owner Preity Zinta extremely delighted.

The Bollywood actress took to Twitter to express her delight and thank head coach Brad Hodge and director of coach Virender Sehwag.

“A big thank you to @virendersehwag & @bradhodge007 for all their efforts & hard work in Building the new #Kxipsquad I’m so thrilled Ting,” she tweeted.
