Continuing their red-hot streak with bat, Kolkata Knight Riders piled up a massive 191 for 7 against Kings XI Punjab.

Sent in to bat first, Kolkata were off to a shaky start. Sunil Narine failed to provide the early firework, departing after scoring just 1. However, Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa did not let Kings XI build on the good start. The duo mixed caution with aggression to take the innings forward.

The Kings XI bowlers kept things tight from their end but the duo relied on ones and twos to keep the scoreboard ticking. They also hit the occasional boundaries to make sure the run-rate was healthy. The duo was looking well to bat the hosts to a position of strength before the visitors struck twice in quick succession.

Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 72-run stand by dismissing Uthappa against the run of play. He scored 34 off 23 with the help of 5 fours and a six. Nitish Rana was then run out for 3 as Kolkata found themselves reeling at 85 for 3 from 78 for 1.

However, the pressure soon dissipated as Dinesh Karthik took the attack to the opposition right from the word go. In the meantime, Lynn reached his fifty off 30 balls and soon changed gears. In the next 4 overs, Knight Riders collected a whooping 50 runs with both Karthik and Lynn going great guns as the scoreboard was reading 136 for 3 after 14 overs.

Kings XI finally managed to break the dangerous stand when Andrew Tye made Lynn edge one behind the stumps. The Australian scored 74 and added 62 runs with Karthik. The visitors then managed to send back the dangerous Andre Russell cheaply to crawl their way back. Karthik, on the other hand, remained till the 19th over, scoring 43 to make sure Knight Riders put up a big total.
