Chris Gayle, the veteran cricketer, finally got a bid in the last round of the day as he was bought by Kings XI Punjab at his base price of Rs 2 Crore. The aggressive batsman went unsold in the first two rounds of the auction.

He played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the first three seasons of IPL before being released by the franchise. He went unsold in the IPL auction 2011 but was later called by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement of Dirk Nannes. He did well in the first three seasons for the franchise and was retained by the franchise from 2014 to 2017.

This season, he was not retained and suffered a danger of going unsold, but KXIP handed him a contract in the last round.

This will be the first time when Gayle will play for this franchise. He will join the likes of KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, R Ashwin to name a few.

KXIP will be playing its few games in Mohali and few in Indore.
