IPL 2018: Lungi Ngidi Excited For Maiden Indian Premier League Stint

The last few weeks could not have been better for Lungi Ngidi. The South Africa pacer grabbed the headlines all over the world after blowing away India in the second Test in Centurion. At just 21, South Africa’a latest pace sensation is already giving international batsmen a lot to worry about.

The right-arm pacer was handed his debut in Centurion and he fully justified the decision by running through the Indian lineup. After taking just one wicket in the first innings in addition to affecting a brilliant run-out, he picked up 6 for 39 in the second innings to help the hosts clinch a series-winning game. With Ngidi spitting fire, India were bowled out for just 151 while chasing 287. Ngidi also bagged the Man of the Match award for his show.

And even before he could move over his sensational Test debut, he received another good news. Chennai Super Kings has bought the 21-year old in the ongoing auction for the upcoming season. Chennai Super Kings bought the South African pacer for a great bargain of 50 lakh rupees. Surprisingly, the Super Kings were the only suitors in the bid for the player who was born to domestic workers in Kloof near Durban.

The youngster might have expected a big financial windfall following his Centurion heroics but was surprisingly bought by the Super Kings for a modest rate. But Ngidi is very excited about playing in the IPL for the very first time and took to Twitter to express his excitement.

“Very excited for what is coming ahead all glory to god ❤??? @ChennaiIPL,” he wrote.
