Manzoor Dar became the second player after Parvez Rasool from the state of Jammu and Kashmir to be signed by an IPL franchise. He was signed by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 20 Lakh. Interestingly, he was the last signing of KXIP and the penultimate signing of the day.

He is a right-handed batsman who is known for hitting huge sixes. Dar has played a total of four List A and nine T20 games. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy zonal league, Dar scored a total of 96 runs at a strike rate of 126.31.

This was the first time during the auction when his name was called out, and he found a buyer in the first go.

After him, the name of Javon Searless came up, and he became the last buy of the IPL auction this year after Kolkata Knight Riders decided to empty their purse by spending remaining their 30 Lakhs on him.

Just a few minutes before Dar was purchased by KXIP, the franchise had also purchased hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle, who went unsold in the first two rounds. It is confirmed that it was the mind of Virender Sehwag behind buying Gayle as he has always preferred a hard-hitting and aggressive batsman over any other player.

The upcoming season of IPL will start on April 7 with Mumbai Indians playing the game of the season at their home ground, Wankhede stadium.
