The Sunrisers Hyderabad dashed the hopes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, as they continue their winning streak by registering a thrilling five runs victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Bangalore fought hard but succumbed to the superior bowling line up of Hyderabad.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a superb final over and stalled the batting of Colin de Grandhomme and Mandeep Singh quite brilliantly. Only 12 runs were required, and the death-overs specialist bowled all six deliveries in the same area. The batsmen had no chance to hit the ball which eventually resulted in Hyderabad’s 8th victory.

It was Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli who won the toss and elected to field. Shikhar Dhawan struck some fluent shots, to begin the innings with. On the other hand, Alex Hales got dismissed pretty early by a terrific delivery from Tim Southee. It looked quite a tough pitch and the skipper needed to play out of the skin.

Kane Williamson did it to perfection and smashed yet another half-century. Williamson continued his rich vein of form and scored 56 off 39 deliveries which included five fours and a couple of sixes. The Bangalore bowlers were up to the mark and halted the Hyderabad progress in the middle overs. Mohammed Siraj and Tim Southee were the picks of the Bangalore bowlers as both bagged three wickets each.

It was brilliant bowling by the duo. However, Williamson continued his good run and helped Hyderabad post a competitive total of 146 runs. SRH had defended pretty low scores before in the tournament and should have backed them to come good.

When Bangalore came out to bat, they surely needed Parthiv Patel to struck some gorgeous shots, which he did eventually and struck four fours. However, Shakib Al Hasan dismissed him. Manan Vohra also receded to the pavilion pretty early. He was pretty unfortunate, as the ball hit of the back off the bat which went onto disturbing the timbers.

It was Sandeep Sharma who brought about the dismissal. However, skipper Virat Kohli was playing a pretty handy knock. He looked in complete control of proceedings, and struck five fours and a maximum during his knock of 39 off 30 deliveries. Kane Williamson dropped him in the slips off Rashid Khan.

However, it didn’t prove to be costly, as Shakib brought about his downfall. It was a horrible shot, to say the least, and Yusuf Pathan held on to a stunner at that point.

It was Rashid Khan who bamboozled AB de Villiers with a brilliant delivery. He was squaring de Villiers up. The latter was never comfortable in front of the leggie. He was deceiving the Modern great with his pace variations. It was just sensational to watch.

Moeen Ali also fell in quick succession, as he inside edged a short of length delivery from Siddharth Kaul straight to Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps.

It was simply superb bowling by fast bowlers. Sandeep Sharma was the most economical among the lot finishing with 1/20. Siddharth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar also returned with impressive spells of 1/25 and 1/27, respectively.

Bhuvi’s final couple of overs proved to be the difference. He conceded just six runs in the 18th over. Bhuvneshwar was just exceptional in the final over restricting Grandhomme and Mandeep Singh.
