Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach, Daniel Vettori has admitted his boys are desperate to win when they square off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 17 (Thursday) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Meanwhile, RCB finds themselves on the seventh spot out of the eight teams. Moreover, they will have to win their last two games to hang in there by a thread, as their qualification for the playoffs also depends on the results of others.
Bangalore were almost down and out after losing seven out of ten games. However, they returned with back-to-back wins against Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.
However, it will be an uphill task to beat the Sunrisers, who are currently at the top of the table.
Boys are desperate to win
Vettori admitted the boys are raring to go and are desperate for the win. He also added they have no pressure on them and will play carefree cricket.
“We have to give ourselves the opportunity. We should be carefree, that’s when we play our best. Virat has been amazing, his versatility, the way he led against on KXIP,” Vettori said.
The former Kiwi cricketers also lauded their lead pace bowler Umesh Yadav, who is one of the leading wicket-takers of IPL 2018 with 17 scalps.
“Umesh is very skilful, has been a regular wicket-taker for us and has the experience too,” he added.
In conclusion, Vettori defended his team’s decision to alter the playing XI frequently saying it was done to find the right combination.
