Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) speedster Shivam Mavi has shared the advice he received from Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has asked the Under-19 sensation to concentrate on his line and length.

Mavi has good pace under his belt. However, he needs to add more control to his armoury.

The lean paceman Mavi also opened about the captaincy of Dinesh Karthik, who led Kolkata Knight for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In fact, Mavi also played in his maiden IPL season after playing in the Under-19 World Cup. Thus, the young fast bowler also opened about his debut IPL experience.

Mavi revealed that he asked Dhoni for his feedback after KKR match against CSK. Dhoni advised the young gun – to be more consistent with his bowling.

Mavi told inuth.com in an exclusive interview, “I met Dhoni after our game with them and asked for his feedback on my performance. He told me that I was bowling at a good speed and that it’s not easy to hit on my bowling. He advised me to keep the focus on my line and length”.

Shivam also shared his first IPL experience. The exciting prospect added that he learnt his lessons from head coach Jacques Kallis and senior Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson.

Mavi added, “It was a great experience for me. Being an all-rounder, I learned a lot from my seniors and experienced players like my coach Jacques Kallis, Mitchell Jhonson among others”.

The Under-19 sensation also revealed that Karthik‘s captaincy was inspiring. Karthik was able to lead the two-time champions with aplomb. The wicketkeeper-batsman also provided the finishing touches to the KKR innings.

Mavi went on to add, “This was the first time he was leading a side in IPL and this was my first season too. I enjoyed playing under him. I hope next year he’ll come up with some amazing captaincy plans.”
