The Delhi Daredevils is all set to lock horns against the Chennai Super Kings in their penultimate match of the tournament on Friday. While Chennai had played some impressive cricket all throughout and find themselves already in the top two, Delhi has been quite mediocre, and the results prove how they have performed in the tournament so far.

Despite some sensational individual performances, Delhi hasn’t been quite consistent enough which has hurt them, as the tournament has progressed.

Rishabh Pant has been quite sensational in the middle-order. His innings of 128 off 63 deliveries against a star-studded Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling line-up speaks volume about the potential of the man.

The little pocket-sized dynamo smashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 26 runs in the final over. It was carnage on display. However, his innings eventually went in vain, as Hyderabad chased down the total with utmost comfort in the end.

It has been more or less the story for Delhi in the competition so far. Chennai, on the other hand, will be eager to make sure they finish in the top two on the points table and a win will help them achieve their target. As learnt earlier, CSK skipper MS Dhoni missed out on the optional training session ahead of the clash against Delhi.

However, players like Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson were seen sweating it out under the scorching heat.

Meanwhile, it will be another big night for Shreyas Iyer, as he will walk into the field to flip the coin with his childhood idol MS Dhoni. He shared a picture with Dhoni from the previous clash in Pune during the coin toss and wrote an emotional message.

Recalling that he was only ten-years-old when Dhoni made his national debut, Shreyas said,

“I was just ten years old when Mahi bhai made his debut for Team India. Have always looked up to him as a leader and as a player. Standing beside him for the toss the other night in Pune was unreal. Tonight is another such night. Wish us the best and come support us at Kotla.”
