IPL 2018: Twitter Goes Berserk Over Rishabh Pant's Knock against Mumbai
Updated - 20 May 2018, 08:01 PM
The penultimate round-robin league fixture of IPL was held at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi between the Daredevils and Mumbai Indians.
Rohit Sharma’s side has to win the match by a specific margin to progress to the playoffs of the tournament. In an interesting turn of events, Glenn Maxwell was sent up the order along with Prithvi Shaw.
After a half-decent start provided by the two, Rishabh Pant asserted his dominance over the Mumbai Indians and also surpassed Kane Williamson’s tally of runs in the tournament.
Pant, who now is the Orange Cap holder of the tournament, smashed yet another trademark knock of his, by hitting 64 off just 44 deliveries, which consisted of four sixes and four boundaries.
As a result, the young dynamite batsman was the focal point within the cricketing community on Twitter. Ricky Ponting’s ploy for promoting Maxwell who is struggling for form reeked of favouritism within the squad.
Apart from Rishabh Pant, the finishing blows were provided by Vijay Shankar and teenage sensation Abhishek Sharma, setting a target of 175 in front of the Mumbai Indians.

On a dry wicket… Mumbai have bowled only 4 overs from the spinners!!
Absolutely poor from the management there!!
Krunal bowled such a good last over in which he got Pant but didn't get another one !! #DDvMI— Samay Turakhia (@samay_srt) May 20, 2018
Rohit Sharma probably does the same drama of being injured in front of Ritika Bhabhi when he finishes before he even starts in the bed.#DDvMI

Rishabh Pant now holds the record of scoring most runs by a WK in an IPL season, going past Robin Uthappa's tally of 660 runs which he scored in 2014. #DDvMI
