IPL 2018: Very Proud With the Way Sunrisers Hyderabad Played in the Tournament - VVS Laxman

Courtesy a scintillating knock from Shane Watson, Chennai Super Kings lifted their 3^rd IPL title by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the competition by eight wickets and with nine deliveries to spare.

On a big day, it was a big name who did the job for Chennai. It was sublime hitting by Watson. He looked at his flamboyant best and took the Hyderabad bowlers to the cleaners. No one was able to stop his onslaught.

Watson got off the mark on the 11^th delivery of his innings. However, from there on, it was carnage at the display from the former Australia all-rounder. The Hyderabad bowlers didn’t have an answer what so ever. He went on to smash 11 fours and eight gigantic sixes during his epic knock of 117 off 57 deliveries at a strike rate well over 200.

Early in the day, it was some sensible batting by Sunrisers Hyderabad which allowed them to post a competitive total of 178 in their allotted 20 overs.

However, in a stadium like Wankhede, Chennai wouldn’t have been too bothered at the halfway stage.

Moreover, with the sort of bowling attack, Hyderabad has it was always going to be difficult for Chennai.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar started off quite brilliantly and bowled a maiden over. He bowled four more dot deliveries before conceding his 1^st run. However, when Waston got going there was carnage at the display. He kept making the Hyderabad bowlers all around the Wankhede. It was a special knock especially on the biggest day of IPL.

Mentor of the Surnisers Hyderabad franchise, VVS Laman was overjoyed with how Hyderabad has played in the tournament. He congratulated his side on a wonderful display.

Laxman further congratulated Waston on a special knock which helped CSK seal their 3^rd IPL title and become the most successful team in the tournament along with Mumbai Indians.
