The home side and the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), secured a big-margin victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai) on Wednesday (1st May) night.

The DC captain Shreyas Iyer decided to field first after winning the toss. Despite a slow start, the host side managed to score 179/4 (20 overs) in the first innings, thanks to Suresh Raina’s 59 runs and MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 44 runs. Chasing down that challenging total, DC was bundled out for just 99 runs (16.2 overs). CSK finally won that match by 80 runs.

ii) The left-handed batsman Ravindra Jadeja becomes the 10th batsman to score 1,000 T20 runs for CSK. He has scored 1,016 T20 runs for CSK.

iii) The leg-spinner Imran Tahir had the bowling figures of 3.2-0-12-4. It is the best bowling figures by a spinner against the Delhi franchise after breaking the previous record of 4-0-13-4 by Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders) at Kolkata on 3rd April 2013. Meanwhile, it is also the best bowling record in a T20 match history between CSK and the Delhi franchise. The previous record holder was Shadab Jakati with the bowling figures of 4-0-24-4 at Johannesburg on 2nd May 2009.

iv) Imran Tahir has bagged 21 wickets in 13 matches in the ongoing IPL season. The leg-spinner breaks the previous record of Ravichandran Ashwin’s 20 wickets (16 matches) in IPL 2011 and becomes the most wicket-taker for CSK as a spinner in an IPL season.

v) The left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has taken 105 IPL wickets till the date. As a left-arm bowler, Ravindra Jadeja is the second most wicket-taker in IPL history. Only the former left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra is ahead of him with 106 IPL wickets.

vi) Suresh Raina becomes the first player to take 100 IPL catches. By the end of this match, he has taken the exact 100 IPL catches.
