Stuart Binny’s late cameo of 33 runs from 11 balls was not enough for Rajasthan Royals (RR) to seal a victory against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Chasing 183 runs, Rajasthan could only manage 170 runs to finish 12 runs short.

However, Jos Buttler and revamped opener Rahul Tripathi got Rajasthan off to a flying start. Buttler dismissed everything at his disposal, but debutant Arshdeep Singh provided the first breakthrough. But Sanju Samson combined well with Tripathi to match up the asking rate. They concentrated on ones and twos while the odd boundaries kept coming. The duo set the platform for the run chase before Ravichandran Ashwin cleaned up Samson.

The wicket saw skipper Ajinkya Rahane coming out in the middle where the Rajasthan Royals made a mistake. This dried up the runs, and along with a few wickets, things looked tough for the visiting team. However, the arrival of Stuart Binny to the crease – playing his first game of the season starting giving Rajasthan some hopes. He struck the ball brilliantly to hit three massive sixes and two fours, but it was not enough to win his side a game.

Binny set the stage on fire

Binny, who warmed the benches so far, showcased his skills with the bat to send a message to the team management. Rajasthan Royals have lacked a proper finished, and Stuart Binny has provided them with an option. Besides, he can also bowl medium pace which can come handy for the side.
