Mumbai Indians might miss out on the services of their captain Rohit Sharma in today’s match against Kings XI Punjab as he might miss the game as a precautionary measure, a report in IndiaToday suggests.

Rohit had suffered a thigh issue yesterday during MI’s practice session.

He was also attended by team’s physio but the good news for the team was that he walked to the dressing on on his own.

This was a good sign for Mumbai Indians but they might miss their captain’s services if the team decides to rest the skipper.

It is to be noted that India are all set to announce their squad for World Cup on April 15 and in no case, the Indian team management would want any player to get injured ahead of the tournament.

The vice-captain of team India’s limited-overs format, Rohit is a vital cog in team India’s wheel and team’s success depends a lot on him.

He would also want himself to be fit for selection in the World Cup squad and he might miss today’s game if Rohit feels that he is no fit.

There will surely be a change in captaincy in Rohit does not play today.

Rohit Sharma was the second international player in the MI camp who had suffered an injury concern.

Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a shoulder issue during MI’s opening game of the season against Delhi Capitals.

Though he was declared fit, Bumrah suffered another scare when a ball hit him just below his eye during fielding session.

He is fit and has played all the matches for Mumba Indians till now.

The three-time IPL champions are currently placed at the fifth position in the points table with three wins.

In their last match at Wankhede Stadium, they stopped Chennai Super Kings’ winning run in IPL 2019 and defeated Men in Yellow.

MI would like to continue their form and given that they are playing at their home, the advantage is on their side as well.

Mumbai Indians will continue to play at their home as they play their next three games at Wankhede Stadium only.

Their next away game is against Delhi Capitals at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, the venue where they played their last game of IPL 2018 season – MI lost the must-win encounter and crashed out of the tournament.
