IPL 2019: Twitter In Meltdown As Mumbai Indians Thrash Table-Toppers Chennai Super Kings

Mumbai Indians beat defending champions by 37 runs to register their second win of the season in four games.
Chasing 171, Chennai Super Kings were off to a disastrous manner. Jason Behrendorff accounted for Ambati Rayudu in the very first over before Lasith Malinga sent back Shane Watson in the second to leave Chennai Super Kings reeling at 6 for 2. Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav then stopped the rot for a while. But just when it looked like they had their eyes set, Kieron Pollard pulled off a breathtaking catch to send back Raina for 16.

Jadhav kept going strong while holding firm from one end but the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja failed to get going. Consequently, Chennai Super Kings found themselves 5 down for just 89.
Jadhav soon brought his fifty but could not last long and became the sixth Super Kings wicket to fall with the scoreboard reading just 108. In that same over, Dwayne Bravo departed too. The Super Kings were eventually restricted to 133 for 8.
Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians recovered from a poor start to post a challenging total of 170 for 5. They lost their in-form opener Quinton de Kock for just 4 runs with Deepak Chahar being the wicket-taker. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav calmed down the nerves. However, just when it looked like Mumbai’s innings is about to get the momentum, Ravindra Jadeja struck to remove Rohit Sharma.
Innings Break!
Half century from @surya_14kumar and quick fire innings from Hardik and Pollard propel the @mipaltan total to 170/5. Is this enough to defend?

Five runs later, Yuvraj Singh departed too as Mumbai Indians found themselves reeling at 50 for 3. Surykumar Yadav and Krunal Pandya then provided the innings with some much-needed stability. The two added 62 runs for the fourth wicket to lay the foundation for a competitive total. Mohit Sharma broke the stand by dismissing Krunal for 42. 13 runs later, Suryakumar departed too.The right-hander scored 59 off 43 balls with the help of 8 fours and a six. With the scoreboard reading 125 for 5 at the end of the 18th over, Mumbai Indians were not looking like scoring anything above 150.

However, Hardik Pandya along with Kieron Pollard completely changed the complexion of the game with a whirlwind fifty. The two added 45 runs from the last two overs.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
Powerful all-round performance by #MI: spirited finish to the innings while batting, backed up by superbly controlled bowling and brillaint fielding. Need few more such days to ensure place in play-offs!

CSK have a fine team for a slower track that offers some assistance for spinners. The Wankhede not exactly a track suited to their style of play. They needed Watson to fire today #MIvCSK

Incredible effort by Pollard to dismiss Raina who was just beginning to look threatening. Best catch of the season surely. Perhaps the best ever in the history of the IPL! Mumbai Indians on top!

There. That’s why they play Pollard. For the top act at the circus. It’s what will be played on a loop. It’s what we’ll remember after all those 6s merge into each other. #MIvCSk

Finally a good Rapid Fire for Hardik Pandya.

The BCCI should investigate Hardik Pandya for the blatant plagiarism of the helicopter shot.

That helicopter shot sixer from Hardik Pandya with Dhoni behind the stumps. ? #MIvCSK
