Delhi Capitals (DC) secured another emphatic victory to go to the second spot in the points table after Chennai Super Kings. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 39 runs to pocket two crucial points at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They have now secured two back to back wins – first Kolkata Knight Riders and then Sunrisers Hyderabad and will be high on confidence as the tournament approaches its business end.

Meanwhile, batting first Delhi Capitals could only manage 115 runs on the board. Khaleel Ahmed – playing his first match of the season dismissed both the openers in short span to put Sunrisers Hyderabad on top. But then Shreyas Iyer shared two crucial stands with Colin Munro and Rishabh Pant to bail the innings. Iyer added 49 runs with the New Zealander for the third wicket before Munro departed. After that, he added 56 runs to take the scoreboard to 125 for three at the end of 16 overs. While the stage was set for the batsmen to launch a carnage, Delhi Capitals crumbled as they could score only 30 runs from the last over to post 155 runs.

However, during the chase, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner got off to a brilliant start, and the fate of the game was already written. But the momentum started to shift when Keemo Paul provided two back to back breakthroughs. The Windies cricketer removed Bairstow and Kane Williamson in no time to help Delhi Capitals peak ahead. Paul then removed the struggling Ricky Bhui – before Kagiso Rabada, and Chris Morris finished off the proceedings at the death.

The Delhi Capitals dugout was extremely happy with the outcome of the match and were celebrating with all their heart. In a video released by Delhi Capitals on Twitter, senior players like Ishant Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan showed their dancing skills. Dhawan’s wife Ayesha Dhawan, who travels with the team also joined the duo later on. The video shows that the team is currently gelling well and is in good stead. They will look to carry the same momentum going deep in the tournament.
