Former India cricketer, Ajit Agarkar has opined on Virat Kohli’s batting this season in the IPL. He feels that the RCB skipper is yet to play his best innings.

Virat Kohli is currently the leading run-scorer for RCB this season and is in the race for the purple cap. He has scored 424 runs at an average of 53 with a best of 90. However, Kohli has been criticized for his slow approach and for his lack of urgency, especially in the middle overs. His strike rate of 122 justifies the same.

His best is yet to come: Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar reckons that the Bangalore captain can do better and that will largely benefit RCB. He said that Kohli must be disappointed with his performance against Mumbai Indians where he scored 9 runs from 14 balls and then got out which ensued a collapse. Agarkar believes that Kohli couldn’t find his rhythm against MI.

He also said that we have not seen the best of Kohli yet in IPL 2020. The former pacer said that RCB still need a victory to ensure their qualification for the playoffs Kohli would want to lead them with his bat.

Chatting with ESPNcricinfo, Ajit Agarkar said, “Expectations are always high from Virat Kohli. He must be disappointed from his performance against Mumbai Indians. It was a big game, and he had gone to bat at a good position, but he was unable to find his rhythm.”

“We have not seen the best of Virat Kohli in this tournament yet. And this is a good thing for RCB that he has scored runs, but his best is yet to come, and still they are at 14 points.”

Agarkar asserts that Kohli is a match-winner, especially while chasing targets. He said that if the right-hander scores against SRH on Saturday, RCB will surely win the game.

“Virat Kohli is a match-winner, if he can score runs, he can set up the game, and we all know how dangerous he can be while chasing. If Kohli performs his best against Sunrisers, then RCB will win this game for sure,” Ajit Agarkar added.

RCB will go head to head with SRH on Saturday evening in Sharjah. Hyderabad will need a victory to remain alive in the competition while RCB would want to qualify for the playoffs and not leave it on the last game.
