IPL 2020 Will Set Momentum For Australia Tour: Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami is fit and raring to go in the IPL 2020. He will be spearheading the pace department for KXIP but has cautioned against the weather in UAE. IPL 2020 will also mark the return for premier Indian cricketers in competitive tournament, who had last featured in an international match, against South Africa.

India will head to Australia for a grueling tour Down Under after the IPL 2020. Shami feels that the lucrative tournament will be perfectly set the body and momentum for the Australia tour, which will be of utmost importance for both the teams.

The first of four-match series between Australia and India will get underway from December 3 in the bio-bubble. The final Test will conclude on January 7, 2021 which will be followed with a three-match ODI series.

“It would be great that the Australia-bound players are playing IPL. It will set the body and momentum perfectly by then,” the Kings XI pace spearhead told PTI in an exclusive interaction.

“I feel it’s better that we are playing IPL before a big series. Apart from IPL, everyone is also focused on that tour (Down Under). There is a lot of talk about that series. We will have a good contest,” he added.

India registered their first-ever series triumph Down Under during their last visit.

IPL 2020 will be played entirely in UAE due to the pandemic situation forcing the cricket board to host the tournament away from India. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will be the three venues used for the tournament. Dream 11 have been named as the sponsor for the upcoming season of the tournament after VIVO pulled out.

All the franchise have arrived in UAE with some of the foreign players still to join the squad. Players from England and Australia will join their respective franchises once their ongoing three-match T20I series concludes.
