Kings XI Punjab batsman Chris Gayle lit up IPL 2020 in the seven matches he featured in, delivering some lusty blows to keep the franchise in contention for playoffs. Nevertheless, a defeat to Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi ended their hopes of a fairytale turnaround. Despite KXIP no more remaining within the competition, the Universe Boss has urged to watch the remaining games.

Chris Gayle featured in the last seven matches of IPL 2020 as the management was unable to squeeze him in the playing eleven while the southpaw also suffered a stomach bug. In the seven games he played, Gayle hammered three fifties at 41.14 while maintaining a strike rate of 137.14, making up 288 runs. With the veteran back in the eleven, KXIP romped to five victories out of seven; however, the damage was too much to recover from.

During his innings of 99 against the Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi, he crossed a tally of 1000 sixes, which are 300 more than the next best. In 411 T20 fixtures, the Jamaican has 13584 runs with 22 centuries at a strike rate of 146.72.

Below is Chris Gayle’s tweet:

As far as the scenario of IPL 2020 goes, Mumbai Indians became the first team to reach the playoffs this year and are guaranteed a top-two finish. The likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders are battling for the other three spots. The teams who are eliminated are Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab.
