With the tournament’s new title sponsor confirmed, the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday revealed its new logo for its 2020 season. The thirteenth edition of the IPL is set to get underway next month in UAE. The entire competition will be played in UAE because of the coronavirus situation in India.

IPL 2020 will start on September 19 while the final will be played on November 20. For the upcoming season, the title sponsors are fantasy cricket league platform Dream11. IPL revealed the new logo on Thursday, posting its photo on Instagram story with the hashtag “#Dream11IPL”.

Later, defending champions Mumbai Indians also shared the logo on their official Instagram account, and wrote: “Now taking guard, #Dream11IPL”.

The BCCI, on Wednesday, confirmed Dream11 as the new title sponsors of IPL. The Indian cricket board had to find new sponsors after Vivo sensationally suspended their ties with BCCI in the wake of the India-China border clash. Dream11 bid Rs 222 crore to win the title sponsorship right while outbidding companies like Tata Sons, Unacademy and Byju’s.

On the other hand, Vivo is contracted to pay Rs 440 crore per year. The Chinese mobile manufacturing giants are contracted to be the IPL title sponsors till 2022. They are expected to return next year. Several media reports have suggested that Vivo suspended the ties as it did not want to pay Rs 880 crores to BCCI in space of six months especially while Indians are boycotting Chinese products.

While this IPL is being held from September to November, the next one is expected to take place in its usual slot which is March/April to May. Meanwhile, all the teams will start leaving for UAE soon to start their preparation for IPL 2020.
