KL Rahul, the captain of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), is highly impressed with Glenn Maxwell’s return to form in their last outing against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2020. Glenn Maxwell has faced a lot of flak from cricketers and fans alike for his performances in the IPL 2020 so far. However, on Tuesday, he played a good cameo of 32 runs in 34 balls as KXIP cruised to their 3rd straight win.

Kings XI Punjab took on Delhi Capitals in match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) at the Dubai International Stadium. Batting first, DC posted a total of 164 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their first innings. Shikhar Dhawan became the first player in IPL history to score consecutive centuries. Chasing the target, KXIP achieved it in 19 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.

KL Rahul Lauds Glenn Maxwell

Speaking to media after the match, Rahul opened up on the criticism of Maxwell and asserted the need for the team to back the ‘match-winners’.

“Glenn is a great team man. He has been batting well in the nets. It was important to back him. It was good to see him get time in the middle. Hopefully, he carries this good work into the coming games,” KL Rahul said.

“Glenn has been batting well in the nets. He is a great team man and we know the balance he brings to the table,” KL Rahul said.

Kings XI Punjab had a very dismal start to their IPL 2020 campaign as they managed to win only 1 out of the first 7 games that they played. However, from their 8th match, they have been back on the winning track. First up, they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore, then Mumbai Indians, and last night they beat Delhi Capitals.

It is quite interesting to acknowledge the fact that prior to the game against RCB, KXIP were the bottom-placed team and RCB, MI, and DC were the top 3 teams. Hence, KXIP have now beaten the top 3 teams of the tournament so far on the trot and they just seem to aim for the playoff spot from hereon.
