Mumbai Indians will be the services of Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga as he pulled out of IPL 2020 citing personal reasons. Malinga has been the most successful bowler in the history of IPL and one of the key members in Mumbai Indians’ success. Aakash Chopra believes that IPL 2020 will not be the same in his absence.
Chopra said that Malinga had to pull out as his father is unwell and might require a surgery in the near future. But he also added that Malinga has been the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL and his absence the fun gets reduced.
“Lasith Malinga has opted out of the IPL due to personal reasons. Everyone knew that he would be travelling late because his father’s health is not good. And his father might require a surgery in the coming one week and recuperation after that.”
“So Lasith Malinga wants to be home and because of these reasons he has said that he doesn’t want to be part of this IPL.
“To be honest IPL becomes a little poorer if Lasith Malinga is not there. If we see the 12-year history of the IPL, Lasith Malinga is the highest wicket-taker. If he is not there, the fun gets reduced,” Aakash Chopra said in his YouTube video.
Mumbai Indians have signed James Pattinson as a replacement of Malinga.
Mumbai Indians’ will be putting their title on defence when IPL 2020 kicks start on September 19. The defending champions will begin the IPL 2020 against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in IPL history. They have clinched the IPL title four times under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. CSK are the second most successful team with three titles to their name.
