IPL 2020 is half-way through and franchises have by far used the best players in their ranks. However, their are a bit of exceptions like veteran spinner Imran Tahir, who is still to make an appearance in the IPL 2020 for CSK. With Tahir to still get a chance in the CSK line-up, speculations are rife whether he would be loaned during the mid season-transfer.

IPL had introduced mid-season transfers last season where only uncapped players were allowed to be loaned. None of the franchises displayed their interest is loaning their players in the previous edition. However, this season gives a chance to loan capped players as well, and franchises might utilize the mid-season transfer to further strengthen their side.

IPL 2020 franchises not keep on loaning star capped players

News agency ANI, according to their sources, reported that top star players will not be loaned by their franchises which makes it certain that Tahir might remain with CSK for the rest of the season. The mid-season transfer rules is also applicable for the players who have played less than two games.

“An interesting area for sure. But, the league is still wide open and who would want to give away an international player? Also, when you go into the auction, you do a lot of planning and that is why you see a player being picked.

“Unless there is a major injury worry or some calculation that has gone completely off track, I don’t see anyone loaning a top capped star even if he has not turned out for the parent team this season or has played less than two games as required by IPL rules for a mid-season transfer,” the official said.

Tahir, Ajinkya Rahane, Nathan Coulter-Nile are among the players in contention for the mid-season transfer. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have some fine international talent like Billy Stanlake, Jason Holder and Fabian Allen and it would be interesting to see if they loan them during the transfer window which has opened on Tuesday.
