Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal has very much justified the hype surrounding him by scoring an impressive fifty on his IPL debut in the ongoing game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 20-year old from Karnataka was so impressive that he made his opening partner and one of world’s best white-ball players Aaron Finch look ordinary.

By the time, he was castled by Vijay Shankar in the 11th over, he scored 56 off 42 balls. His impressive innings was studded with 8 fours. In the process, he also became the first Indian since 2010 to score a fifty on his IPL debut. His cover drives were a treat to watch and made many compare him with the legendary Yuvraj Singh.

While Finch was struggling to get going on the other end, Devdutt Padikkal was looking at his fluent best. He opened his arms by slamming Sandeep Sharma for two fours in the second over before hitting T Natarajan for three boundaries in the fourth over.

The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mitchell Marsh conceded boundaries against the southpaw too. He eventually reached his fifty off 36 balls before being sent back by Shankar. And as he was taking the SRH bowlers to the cleaners, the cricket fraternity was lavishing praise on him.
