There was a lot of movement in the 2020 IPL points table following a double-header in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Sunday involving Rajasthan Royals [RR], SunRisers Hyderabad [SRH], Delhi Capitals [DC], and Mumbai Indians [MI].

And, it turned out to be a rare day in the competition where chasing sides went on to script a victory on both occasions.

In the first game of the day, Rajasthan Royals broke their three-match losing streak courtesy a whirlwind heist from that man again, Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag.

Chasing 159, RR looked dead and buried at 5-78 when Tewatia and Parag came together at the crease. With 65 runs to get in the last five, the duo staged a calculated assault on the Rashid Khan-led bowling unit to seal a memorable win.

The second game between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals turned out to be a damp squib in the end as the Rohit Sharma-led defending champions chased down 167 comfortably thanks to brilliant half-centuries from Quinton de Kock and SuryaKumar Yadav.

Earlier, the Capitals suffered a body-blow in the lead-up to the game after Rishabh Pant was ruled out due to an injury that he suffered in the last match against the Royals. Pant’s exclusion meant that DC had to make two forced changes to their playing 11 as Ajinkya Rahane came in for Pant while Alex Carey replaced Shimron Hetmyer as a specialist wicketkeeper.

Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 69 but DC failed to garner any sort of momentum, eventually finishing with an underwhelming total of 162.

Thanks to today’s results, MI have reclaimed their numero-uno spot in the points table, with DC moving to the second spot. RR, on the other hand, have moved to the 6th spot following a miraculous win against SRH, who stay at No.5.
