Ravindra Jadeja played a sizzling cameo of 31 from 11 balls in a run-chase against KKR. Jadeja finished the chase with consecutive sixes of the last two deliveries of the match to bring out plenty of smiles in the CSK dressing room in what has been a rather lacklustre season for the three-time champions.

Chasing the target of 173, CSK seemed to lose the plot with wickets in the middle-overs as they lost three wickets of Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad in quick succession. KKR had the upper hand on the game as 30 were required of the final two overs, and Lockie Ferguson has an over left.

However, then Ravindra Jadeja happened. The left-hander smashed Ferguson for 17 runs in the last three balls of the 19th over and then completed the chase with a couple of sixes off Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who has bowled brilliantly in the first four balls.

Just see the ball and hit the ball well: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja in the post-match ceremony said that he had been hitting well in the nets and wanted to emulate the same in the game. He believed that in the last two overs, there isn’t much to think about; just see the ball and connect well and keep the shape of the body.

He also said that he would back his strength to smash a maximum if the bowlers bowled in his arc. The Saurashtra lad was happy that he could contribute to the team’s victory.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, Ravindra Jadeja said, “I was hitting it well in the nets and just wanted to do that again. The last 12 balls you don’t have to think too much. Just see the ball and hit the ball well. I was just looking to keep my shape and back my strength.

“I knew if they bowl in my arc, I could hit the six, it was simple. When you play good competitive cricket and win matches for your team, you always feel happy.

The left-hander is having a terrific IPL 2020 with the bat- he is averaging 46 at a strike rate of 171 and will hope to take this form to Australia as well. CSK registered their fifth victory of the season but still are at the bottom of the points table. They will face a rampant Kings XI Punjab on Sunday afternoon in Abu Dhabi.
