Australia’s limited-overs captain Aaron Finch would be aiming for as many as his ninth IPL team in the 2021 auction after Royal Challengers Bangalore released him following an INR 4.4 crores deal. Royal Challengers Bangalore roped in the opening batsman to solve their top-order woes; however, Finch endured a disappointing season as the team crashed out of the tournament in the playoffs.

Aaron Finch featured in 12 matches and managed only 268 runs at 22.33 alongside an awful strike rate of 111.20. The 34-year old crafted only one half-century in the edition as the pressure kept piling on the Royal Challengers’ star batsmen Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers. Hence, it was justified on the franchise’s part to release Finch. He has so for played for the Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors, SunRisers Hyderabad apart from Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch’s recent form in franchise cricket will also give franchises plenty to ponder. The Victorian managed only 179 runs in 13 matches at 13.76 with a strike rate of 113.29. While Finch might have a reputation as a shrewd tactician or a reasonably good captain and a batsman prone to give quick starts, the recent stats are worrying.
