With an IPL auction around the corner, former cricketers have started to pick their favourites for the event and Sanjay Manjrekar, a regular face in the commentary box, also picked his best pick. In a tweet, Manjrekar wrote that IPL franchises should go for Kesrick Williams, who recently played the T20I series against India.
Although Twitterati, including former England captain Kevin Pietersen, did not agree with him and few users on social media also trolled him. Here is how Twitterati reacted to his advice for the IPL franchises –
Go for Kesrick Williams guys. Perfect bowler for IPL conditions. #IPLAuction

Completely disagree. He’s not good enough! He has nothing special apart from his celebration…

Williams, who has only played T20 cricket of late, finished with three wickets in as many matches but hogged the limelight for his on-field banter with Virat Kohli.
The Indian skipper had his say in the opening T20I but Williams scalped his wicket in the second T20I. While Kohli imitated Williams’ notebook celebration, the bowler put his finger on his lips after dismissing the Indian captain.
He holds a good chance of getting bid this time around. Williams, in 81 T20s has 110 wickets. He went unsold in IPL 2018 auction and couldn’t make it to the list of shortlisted candidates for IPL 2019 auction. Williams is not expected to bag a big deal but is likely to get an IPL contract.
Apart from Williams, likes of Hayden Walsh, Brandon King and Shai Hope will also hope to get an IPL contract. Shimron Hetmyer, who was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for RS 4.20 Crore in previous IPL auction, looks all but set to draw high number of bids in the IPL 2020 auction – he scored 139 off 106 in the first ODI against India in Chennai.
The IPL auction takes place on December 19 in Kolkata. A total of 332 players will be up for grabs. Earlier, a total of 997 players registered for the auction but the list was trimmed after IPL franchises submitted a list of shortlisted candidates to the board.
