Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a disastrous start to the season.  The perennial underachievers of the tournament are looking primed to end the tournament in a disappointing manner once again after losing their first four games. The manner of the defeats are also worrying for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team-management. They started the season with a crushing seven-wicket defeat at the hands of defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The Royal Challengers were all out for just 70.

In the following game, they put up a good fight against Mumbai Indians at home but eventually lost by 6 runs while chasing 187.  Sunrisers Hyderabad then thrashed them by 118 runs after piling up a mammoth total of 231 runs. In the fourth game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore lost to Rajasthan Royals who too had lost their opening three games. The famed batting lineup of the Royal Challengers faltered once again and could manage only 158 runs. Royals then did not break much sweat to chase down the modest total.

And it looks like these defeats had a bad effect on one of the Royal Challengers fans as he ended up giving death threat to former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull.  Doull, who is commentating at the IPL, posted a screenshot of the message from one Dharnish Murthy, warning the former seamer that he “will be killed for sure” if he doesn’t refrain from commenting on the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore.

While the supporter was clearly upset about something Doull had said during a commentary stint, the cricketer-turned-commentator insisted he didn’t know what the offending comment was.

“Clearly Dharmish is not happy with me… Not sure what I said but a Death threat, Really.? It’s only a game of cricket Mate. Chill out…,” Doull tweeted.

While the tweet is definitely disturbing, Doull’s compatriot Scott Styris, who is also in India for commentary, saw the fine side of it as he tweeted:

“He is right though ??”

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli is hopeful of a turnaround from his team in the remaining 10 games.

“We have 10 games to go, hopefully we can turn things around. We played well against Mumbai and in this game. This tournament is not that long, it is not going to go on for months and you have to think on your feet and have to think about the best combination going forward. Hopefully, we will get fresh guys in and they can give a match-winning performance,” he said.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
