The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner, and the buzz surrounding the much-awaited auctions is the most sought-after topics in the media at the moment. All the eight franchises have their task cut out and will look to get the perfect blend of retained players and the new entries to have a successful upcoming campaign. Delhi Daredevils who have been the underachievers of the tournament is no exception either.

The Daredevils is pondering in the prospects of retaining two young guns who performed brilliantly for them in the previous edition of the tournament. As per the rules, a franchise is allowed to retain a maximum of 3 players before the auction. The deadline for submitting the list of retained players is on 4th January. The franchises can get back to more players on their roster by using the Right to Match cards.

As per reports in the Mid Day, the Delhi Daredevils are looking forward to retaining Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. While Iyer has been part of the Indian squad for the last two limited-overs assignment, Pant played for India in early 2017.

Iyer played a couple of handy knocks against Sri Lanka and almost brought up his maiden ODI century. On the other hand, Pant hasn’t been consistent in the last six months but recently led Delhi to the final of the Ranji Trophy this season.
