Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a very poor start to this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as was the case in the previous editions of the professional Twenty20 league.

Meanwhile, they have struggled mainly due to the weak links in the bowling unit. However, they have shelled out hefty amount during the auction – to rope in quality overseas bowlers. But the problem remains the same.

The likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are the only ones who are performing for the team consistently and it goes without saying that they are languishing at the wrong half of the IPL 2018 points table.

However, everything is not over for the Royal Challengers and the fans can keep their hopes high.

So far, they have won only two matches from seven games. Moreover, it is clear that they have to win almost all their remaining games to remain in contention for qualification procedure.

Even Kohli pointed out the same on Sunday (April 29) night and believed that they have to take every game as virtual semi-final now.

The equation:

Meanwhile, the current scenario is not new for the Royal Challengers as they have experienced this before.

It was in 2011 when RCB came back from this situation to be on the top. They won seven consecutive matches after winning a solitary game out of four matches.

Moreover, they reached the finals in that season only to lose to two-time champions Chennai Super Kings.

So, if Bangalore can set up this task and turn things from now on, they can qualify for the next stage.

Even in 2016, Kohli’s outstanding form took them out from similar circumstances and eventually went to the finals of that season as well.

As of now, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to win at least six of their seven remaining games to qualify for the playoffs.

Although it will be an uphill task for the players, but they have cricketers who can pull this off in a sensational way.
