IPL 2018: Irfan Pathan Reckons SRH Bowlers Have Been Impressive in the Absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have performed well even without their premium bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The Orange Army has done a fine job without the services of their pack leader Bhuvneshwar in the last three matches. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar is out of action due to a back injury.

Sunrisers is well known for their potent bowling line-up. Kane Williamson led team has defended their last three targets as they have continued their prime form.

Consequently, the Hyderabad franchise has won six matches out of the eight – to secure the second place in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) points table.

Sunrisers bowlers are delivering the goods.

“Sunrisers Hyderabad…the way they have performed without Bhuvneshwar, who is a big bowler…According to me, in the Indian team, if anyone is at par with (Jasprit) Bumrah in ODI cricket, it is Bhuvneshwar Kumar,” Pathan said as quoted by PTI.

Pathan added that it is great to note the young players like Siddarth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma rose to the occasion in absence of star bowler Bhuvneshwar.

Moreover, Hyderabad had also lost the services of Billy Stanlake.

“And the way they (SRH bowlers) have performed without him in the last 2-3 matches, it is a big thing. They have fast bowlers- Siddharth Kaul and Sandeep Sharma, but no big international name in their pace department…Only Rashid Khan (from Afghanistan) and Shakib (Al Hasan). But the way they have bowled is impressive,” the all-rounder added.

Hyderabad has been reliant on their bowling unit. The bowling battery has delivered the goods and they are instrumental in the success of their team.

“But with limited resources, the young boys are bowling well in right areas and doing well and so Sunrisers Hyderabad,” Pathan explained.

Markande is the find of the season.

Adding further, the former southpaw also praised Mayank Markande who is the find of the season. The Mumbai Indians (MI) leg-spinner has already scalped 11 wickets in the season.

Irfan Pathan added that Markande is getting the ball in the right areas.

“One thing for a leg-spinner is to bowl in right areas and he (Markande) is bowling consistently in the right areas. A leg-spinner has variations, but to have the control and to bowl in the (right) areas is not an easy task and this boy has done that,” Pathan added.

Sunrisers bowlers have been right on the money. It is commendable that they are instrumental in the success of their team without the services of their premier fast bowler.
