India came into the 2nd T20I against Ireland as firm favourites. After a dominating 76-run victory in the opening encounter, the Indians would have wanted to try out their bench strength ahead of a much sterner test against England.

Despite Rohit Sharma playing in the XI, it was skipper Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul who came out to open the innings. Rahul was playing his first match while Siddarth Kaul received his debut cap.

Rahul began brilliantly with a few exquisite shots. The skipper, on the other hand, was dismissed for just nine, as he tried to up the ante. From there on, it was a sensational partnership between Rahul and Suresh Raina which got India back into the game with a bang.

Both played some delightful shots. Rahul, in particular, carried on from where he left in the Indian Premier League.

He looked in complete command of proceedings and shared a 106-run stand with Raina. The southpaw, on the other hand, played a fine knock en route to yet another half-century.

Rahul eventually got dismissed by Kevin O’ Brien on his very first delivery of the spell. Rahul went onto score a brilliant 70 which came in just 36 deliveries. His innings decorated with three fours and six hits over the fence.

Rohit Sharma came out to bat at two down. He had earlier played in the middle-order as well. However, he had adjusted to his opening position quite perfectly, and it was just to give Rahul an opportunity at the top of the order that Rohit was sent down the order.

Rohit got dismissed in the same over of Kevin, as he tried to slash an outside the off stump delivery. He was caught in the point region.

Manish Pandey was the next man in. Raina played some delightful shots, as India went past the 150-mark in the 15th over. Raina also got dismissed by Kevin O’Brien at the score of 69 off 45 deliveries which included five fours and three sixes.

In the later stages, Hardik Pandya played some lusty blows to take India over the 200-mark. He remained unbeaten on 32 off nine balls. India managed 213 for four by the end of 20 overs.

Twitterati was pretty active during the 1st innings and had their say on yet another wonderful batting performance by India. Here are some of the best tweets.
