Ajinkya Rahane’s second Test century, which was also his second overseas, ushered the tourists to a respectable 295. Unfortunately, Ishant Sharma bowled 24 wicketless overs in the first innings before his match-winning one in the second.

MS Dhoni’s men rode on three half-centuries from Murali Vijay, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravindra Jadeja to set England a challenging 319 to chase.

The 31-yearold’s unforgettable spell of bowling left the Englishmen in tatters. He took seven wickets in the match out of which the likes of Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad, Joe Root, Matt Prior, and Moeen Ali fell to short-pitched deliveries. Sharma eventually received the man of the match award.

However, it saw the rise of the Delhi speedster in actuality, who would go on to lead the fast bowling attack in the future. At present, he has 297 wickets in 97 fixtures.
