The ongoing tour of New Zealand is fast turning into a nightmare for India skipper Virat Kohli. The world number one Test and ODI batsman is not managing to get into his grooves in the challenging conditions. And his dismissal in the ongoing first Test in Wellington has pretty much made it clear that he is quite low on confidence at the moment.
So far on the tour, Virat Kohli has managed to score just one fifty in eight innings (4 T20Is, three ODIs and one Test innings. And the way he is batting at the moment, it would not be very surprising if he leaves New Zealand without any big score. But then again, one cannot just write off Virat Kohli. The batting superstar loves a challenge and delivers his best performance whenever he is under pressure.
Talking about his latest dismissal, it must have brought back the horrific memories of 2014 England tour when Virat Kohli averaged just 13.40 in five Test matches. On most of the occasions, he was out out chasing the wide deliveries. Virat Kohli soon rectified that mistake to become the leading Test batsman in the world.
However, on Saturday morning, he brought back that shot once again as he was dismissed by Test debutant Kyle Jamieson for just two. The lanky pacer had offered a fairly wide ball that did not look threatening at all before Virat Kohli decided to change it. The right-handed batsman poked the ball outside the off-stump to get a thick outside edge to first slip where Ross Taylor made no mistake.
Here is a clip of that wicket:
This isn’t from England, 2014.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have taken the upper hand in the game so far. At the time of compiling this report, India were reeling at 117 for 5 with Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant batting in the middle.
