Cricket Australia (CA) CEO James Sutherland has given it back to his Indian counterparts and the latter refused to take part in a much-anticipated day-night Test in the upcoming series down under.

Sutherland feels that Virat Kohli’s men are desperate to win a series in Australia and therefore the visitors are against the idea of playing under lights with the pink ball.

The CEO feels that it is CA’s prerogative to take a call on the day-night Test against India in Adelaide from December 6-10, but Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators’ (CoA) chief Vinod Rai has clearly made it a point to rule out the possibility.
James Sutherland not impressed:
“I think personally the home country should have the right to schedule matches as it sees fit and start them at whatever time of day they want,” Sutherland told SEN Radio.
India rules out pink ball Test possibility:
Rai, on the other hand, told reporters that there are no clashes between the boards as such and that the decision has to be taken mutually.
“I don’t think BCCI’s stand will change. As it has already been decided, Day/Night pink ball matches will continue at the first-class level. Duleep Trophy will be played under lights once again.” Rai told PTI.

Rai maintained there is no rift and the decision is bound to be taken owing to the mutual understanding.
“I don’t see this as a reason for friction (between boards). Playing condition is something that both the boards sit and decide upon. Obviously, whatever happens, is agreed mutually. But let me make it clear once again, there won’t be any pink ball Test involving India,” he added.
Australia’s unbeaten Pink ball Test record:
Australia have made it a tradition to play the day-night Test and it has been a part of their fixtures since 2015.
Adelaide has hosted three pink ball Test matches while the Gabba in Brisbane has hosted a solitary fixture. So far, the home team has won each of the games.
