Jason Behrendorff’s superb show in the Guwahati T20I against India last year earned him praises from all around the world.

He bowled a spell of 4/21 and the wickets included scalps of top four batsmen i.e. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey.

His bowling prowess also put him being in contention for Ashes as well, but a back injury ruled him out.

He went to miss Big Bash League as well.

However, his show in the T20I was enough to land him an IPL contract.

Behrendorff, who put his base price Rs 1 Crore, was expected to one of the biggest buys in the auction.

He was sold for an amount of Rs 1.50 to Mumbai Indians, which was probably on the lower side than what was expected.

Behrendorff was all set to join the Mumbai Indians’ camp in the coming days, but he failed to recover from the back injury.

It ruled him out of IPL and also delayed his arrival in the league by at least a year.

Behrendorff, who has played two T20Is, is disappointed to miss IPL but the left-arm pacer is hoping to make a recovery soon,

Mumbai Indians have called back Mitchell McClenaghan to their team as a replacement for Behrendorff.

McClenaghan played for Mumbai Indians in the last season as well and scalped 19 wickets in 14 games.
