Jasprit Bumrah, India and Mumbai Indians fast bowler, once again displayed just why he is one the leading fast bowler of his generation and a prized asset for whichever team he plays for.

On Thursday, Jasprit Bumrah displayed yet another masterclass in fast bowler, and in the process, he went on to register his career-best IPL figures- 4-14 in four overs.

After Trent Boult had got Mumbai Indians off to a rollicking start courtesy back-to-back wickets in the 1st over, Jasprit Bumrah got into the act big time by knocking over an in-form Shikhar Dhawan with a pacy, unplayable inswinging yorker.

The fast bowler then accounted for DC’s skipper Shreyas Iyer before coming into the attack for his second spell to knock over a set Marcus Stoinis and bouncing out Daniel Sams.

Jasprit Bumrah also went on to break Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record for most wickets in an IPL season by an Indian bowler. The champion fast bowler has claimed 27 wickets in 14 games and he is now the leading wicket-taker of the season.

But, as usual, personal achievements mean nothing for Jasprit as long as his team is winning, something that he once again asserted during the post-match presentation after he was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’

”I am okay with not getting wickets and winning the tournament, I have been given a role so I just want to execute that role. Opening yorker was really important. I decided I will do that early in the game and when it comes off it’s always nice. I am always ready when the captain wants me to bowl. I don’t focus on the end result. When I have done that it’s always gone downhill. I have a great camaraderie with Boult. We discuss fields, situations, so there’s a lot to learn from him. Batsmen have been taking all the awards, so it’s good to get it as a bowler (laughs). Ah no, I don’t worry about awards. As long as the team is winning I am happy,” Jasprit Bumrah said.
