Jasprit Bumrah has emerged to be India’s top-class bowler across formats in recent times. He has been the go-to bowler for Virat Kohli and has got better with each passing game. As Bumrah looks forward to playing his first Test on home soil, former India all-rounder Ajit Agarkar heaped praise on the youngster.

Since making his Test debut against South Africa in 2018, Bumrah has represented India in 12 Test claiming 62 wickets. Interestingly all the 12 matches have been overseas  (3 in South Africa, 3 in England, 4 in Australia and 2 in West Indies) where wickets naturally assist pacers.

Jasprit Bumrah will face a tough challenge when he plays his first game at home against South Africa. But Ajit Agarkar feels Bumrah will have an exceptional debut home Test series against the Proteas. The former cricketer also said that the young pacer has the skill to succeed in all conditions.

“With experience, everyone can see what progress he has made in international cricket. I expect him to do well in India as well. Obviously, there will be times when the spinners will dominate in the series. However, with the kind of unique ability he possesses, I don’t think conditions matter to him. He has the skill-set to perform in Indian conditions as well,” Agarkar said to IANS.

Jasprit Bumrah has a good record in the first-class cricket and has played all his cricket in India. Thus, it should not be a problem for the 25-year-old fast bowler. So far, Bumrah has played 38 First-Class and 83 List-A matches picking 151 and 155 wickets respectively.

Ajit Agarkar also spoke on the same lines and believes the SG balls will not be a problem for Bumrah and he is quite well aware of these conditions.

“A lot of people tend to forget that Bumrah played quite a lot of first-class cricket before he played for India. He has bowled in these conditions with the SG ball. He knows what to do,” Agarkar concluded.
