While the cricketing world was busy talking about Ben Stokes’ heroics in the Ashes, India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah managed to divert everyone’s attention to another Test going on in Antigua. The right-arm pacer came up with a sensational effort with the ball to propel India to a massive 318-run win in their maiden ICC World Test Championship match.

Jasprit Bumrah was simply unplayable for the West Indies players on Sunday as he finished with sensational figures of 5 for just 7 runs from 8 overs. After setting West Indies an unlikely target of 419 for victory on the fourth day, India bowled out the hosts for 100 to register their biggest away win in terms of runs.

Bumrah rattled through the top order, attacking the stumps relentlessly in a devastating spell. He had his first breakthrough when he had opener Kraigg Brathwaite caught behind for one in his first over. Just minutes later, West Indies were five down for just 15. Bumrah received good support from his senior teammate Ishant Sharma who finished with 3 for 31.

West Indies were reeling at 50 for 9 before the last wicket stand of 50 between Miguel Cummins and Kemar Roach gave some respectability to the total.  Roach slogged three sixes in one over off spinner Ravindra Jadeja and top-scored for West Indies with 38.

“I am feeling very good,” said Jasprit Bumrah.

“A lot of hard work goes into my delivery. I used to bowl the inswinger earlier, but the more Test matches I’ve played, I’ve gotten more confident to bowl the outswinger,” he added.

Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane notched his 10th career century, scoring 102, while Hanuma Vihari added 93 before India captain Virat Kohli declared at 347 for 7. But the day belonged to Bumrah and unsurprisingly, he was the talk of the town. Fans and others went gaga over him after his devastating spell as they took to Twitter to lavish praise on him.
