England Test skipper Joe Root, who is in Australia while participating in the dead rubber of the ongoing Magellan Ashes Test series in Sydney is expected to be announced as the member of England’s Twenty20 International squad for the triangular series.
The series is scheduled to kick off on February 3 between Trans-Tasman rivals Australia and New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), and the final is scheduled at Eden Park in Auckland on February 21.
To be precise, the news from England is coming that, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is looking forward to resting the 27-year-old Root, but the batsman has been already adamant in approach to feature in the limited-overs cricket.
Somewhat struggling on the Australian soil Root is keen to future in the limited-overs cricket when it was the good chance for him to take a rest before preparing up for the upcoming schedules during the contemporary calendar year.
Interestingly, the reliable reports and Sportsmail suggested the right-handed batsman is highly likely going to throw his name for the auction of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, the IPL Players Auction 2018 is scheduled to be held on January 27, as the widely-acclaimed Twenty20 professional league will be played between April and May.
Moreover, the top-order batsman has already set his horizon on the Twenty20 World Cup and eventually aimed to give his best shot while donning the national colors.
On the other side, Root has been fine-tuning his game and would be aiming to see a lot coming in his way when it comes to the lucrative league like IPL, as the eleventh edition has seen a major overhauling so far.
It would be interesting to see how Root would manage the workload after featuring in the five Ashes Tests on the tour Down Under which already saw him losing the Urn with the scoreline of 3-0 and Sydney Test is underway.
However, the backbone of England batting line-up Root is expected to sit out during the ODI in New Zealand, and the 2019 50-over World Cup will be played in England and Wales.
As the longevity has become important for the premium players, but at the same time the professional cricketers were seen fetching the massive deals in the Twenty20 leagues across the globe, and England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes has been one of the examples who earned INR 14.5 crore from now-defunct IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiant which lost the final by-a-run against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians.
The 26-year-old Stokes, who is facing the Bristol-brawl charges which is thoroughly being investigated by Avon and Somerset police has been given a green signal for the upcoming IPL season.
