While the 24-year old Archer has taken the world by storm, his frequent injuries have dented his abilities. He played in the World Cup and the Ashes in England during which he sparkled.
However, ever since, Archer’s performances have taken a hit in New Zealand and South Africa. He signed a contract with his county team Sussex till the end of 2022 season.
With regards to turning up for Royals, Archer said that he is optimistic, but didn’t promise anything as more information would be revealed only after he undergoes further scans.
Archer further said that he feels his elbow is making fine progress yet, Archer wants to take the time to heal completely before resuming to play.
“You never know, fingers crossed. I’ll probably have some more information when I get it re-scanned. It could be a bit longer, I might have to wait, it could be a bit shorter,” Archer said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“The elbow is fine, I haven’t felt it for the last few weeks now so I think it’s making good progress. I’m not targeting anything. I’ve played a lot of cricket so I don’t think I’ll forget how to play cricket even if I don’t do anything for the next couple of months,” he added.
Jofra Archer claims it’s nice to have a little break on the other side:
On the other hand, Archer also believes that a short break like this one is good since he gets the chance to take a step back from the game.
Since the time Archer made his debut for the Three Lions, he has been continuously involved in cricket. At the same time, he is unhappy to have the injury come at this point.
“It’s actually nice to just take a break. I’m not happy that it’s come at this time but I’m also grateful that I’m getting the chance to relax and take a step back for a bit.” he added further.
Archer’s first appearance in the IPL was in 2018 when Rajasthan secured his services for an amount of INR 7.2 crores.
In 21 matches, the speedster has bagged 26 scalps at an economy rate of 7.52.
