England’s star keeper-batsman Jos Buttler will miss the third T20 international against Australia in Southampton on Tuesday. Jos Buttler scored a match-winning and unbeaten knock of 77 in the second T20 game that also sealed the series for the hosts. However, the 29-year old will return for the three-match ODI series that begins on the 11th of September.

Jos Buttler triggered a sparkling turnaround of form when he scored 75 in the first Test against Pakistan in Manchester. The innings of 75 helped England gun down a mammoth fourth innings total of 277, sharing a stand of 139 along with bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes. Buttler proceeded to muster his highest score of 152 in the third Test in Southampton to secure the man of the series award. It was a stunning return to form after his spot came under intense scrutiny.

While his batting drastically improved, the Somerset batsman’s performance with the gloves remained indifferent. In the first Test, he fluffed the chance to dismiss Shan Masood twice as he went on to score 156. The right-handed batsman took some outstanding grabs as the series progressed; however, dropped some sitters too. However, his spot in England’s white-ball line-up remains unquestionable.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has reported that Buttler left the bio-secure bubble to remain with his family. After COVID-19 testing, he will return to the environment on Thursday ahead of the first of the three ODIs. Before his unbeaten of 77, Jos Buttler smashed 44 in the second innings as England stormed back to clinch a victory by two runs.

The opening partnership of David Warner and Aaron Finch of 98 was not enough as Australia could not chase 163 despite being at 124-1. Buttler’s absence allows them relief and a great chance to maintain their number one ranking with a consolation victory on Tuesday.
