England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler will get a surprise call-up in the England Test squad for the two-Test match series against Pakistan. Buttler will reap fruits for his fine current form.

Jos Buttler is in fine touch while playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. The gloveman has scored five consecutive fifties for his franchise – to keep them in the playoffs race.

This could be a huge blow to the Rajasthan Royals.

Ed Smith, who is England’s head of selectors will announce the squad for the First Test on Tuesday (May 15). The first Test will be played from May 24 at the home of cricket, Lord’s.

Meanwhile, Buttler is expected to bat at the number seven position as his pyrotechnics can change the complexion of the game. However, it is expected that Jonny Bairstow will take the wicketkeeping duties as he is a better keeper according to Smith.

This move will also give an alternative to England if Bairstow wants to take rest in the red-ball form.

However, Buttler played in the whites for England 18 months ago in India when he came to bat in the lower order. Buttler has thus far played only 18 Test matches in his career which has spanned four years.

Meanwhile, Buttler had to lose out on his wicketkeeping role in the long-form cricket to Jonny Bairstow. Furthermore, Smith will also take a call between James Vince and Mark Stoneman.

However, Vince has added to his chances after scoring a double century against Somerset.

Pertinently, it would be a bad news for the Rajasthan if they make the playoff stages.

Jos Buttler is in great touch and losing out on his services will be a huge blow for the franchise.
