England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler revealed the secret of his calm knock of 110 runs off 122 balls in the final One-day International against Australia at Old Trafford.

Buttler said that he tried to follow Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s footsteps in his match-winning knock to get England over the line in a thrilling encounter.

The English gloveman Buttler reiterated he tried to keep himself calm under pressure like Dhoni. He tried to visualize how veteran Dhoni will tackle the same situation and tried to take the game deep.

Meanwhile, Buttler is a well known for his pyrotechnics with the bat. However, the England batter had to play an uncharacteristic knock to take his team home.

The hosts had their backs against the wall when they were shuddering for 114 for eight in reply to Australia’s 205 runs.

Therefore, Buttler was England’s only hope to register a whitewash of 5-0 for the first time against Australia.

When Buttler was asked whether he was calm under pressure, the talisman was quoted as saying by Metro UK, “Yeah, I think so. ‘When you’re out there at least you can do something about it. I was just trying to soak up the pressure and imagine what MS Dhoni would do. ‘He would look unflustered and calm so that’s what I tried to do.’”

Buttler said it is a great achievement for them to clean sweep their arch-rivals.

England’s linchpin added that the English team has enjoyed their success over the Australians.

‘A proud cricketing nation with such a rich history like Australia don’t get beaten too often. We’ve been on the wrong end of these tough beatings so it’s a huge feather in our cap. It’s a great effort from everyone and we will enjoy it.’

Meanwhile, Jos Buttler is batting at the top of his game. He had also scored a fine knock against Pakistan in the second Test match. Furthermore, he was awarded as the Player of the Series against Australia.

It was a fine effort from England as they have ticked the right boxes against Australia. They were dominant in their performance throughout the series.
