The ever-lasting demon for the game of cricket is fixing. It always took away great players with it when their bank balance pushed them to commit the mistakes. However, the latest claim that happened is in the ongoing Karnataka Premier League 2018 (KPL).

Thankfully, players reported the approach by the match-fixers to the higher officials of the tournament. The incident has been taken directly to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Anti-Corruption Unit is now looking into the reports – KSCA secretary

The secretary of Karnataka State Association (KSA) Sudhakar confirmed the same stating that players are reporting the approach by the fixers.

Meanwhile, one of the online betting websites, Betfair cancelled all the stakes from mid-way.

The immediate step by Betfair furtherly stressed the concerns of the match-fixing. However, the franchise owners of the teams are clear in playing the game fair with all the plans that were prepared in the dugout.

”Yes, there have been people from Rajasthan who have approached players in the league. But then the players have reported all such activities to the ACU officials. The Anti-Corruption Unit is now looking into the reports and we are awaiting their version before taking any action,” Sudhakar Rao said to Hindustan Times.

“We did not see anything untoward from a team’s standpoint and from a cricketing standpoint. Everything is under wraps as far as the franchise is concerned. And we control everything which happens with the team and all the strategies which are in place,” Rahul Kargal, manager Bijapur Bulls, told Hindustan Times.

We are very clear with Zero tolerance – Diana Edulji

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji reiterated they would follow the zero-tolerance policy in a case of any match-fixing.

If the player commits a crime, he will face the life ban.

“We are very clear that there is a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and we will look into the matter. Before the start of any league, the franchises and the players are clearly educated about anti-corruption protocols,” Edulji said about this issue.

However, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out. For now, the matches of the Karnataka Premier League 2018 will continue as per the schedule following the fixing approaches.

Meanwhile, the further step can be taken once the report from ACU appears.
