The all-rounder from Maharashtra, Kedar Jadhav recently opened up on his unusual bowling action which often gets him crucial wickets in the middle overs.
Meanwhile, Jadhav is currently out of action from national team due to a hamstring injury which he sustained in the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener.
Unfortunately, he went on to miss the remainder of the IPL and also the limited-overs leg of ongoing England tour. However, he is recovering fast and admitted that he will start playing within two to three weeks.
It’s pertinent to mention, Jadhav is now undergoing the rigorous rehabilitation programme.
Jadhav got into the India team on the back some consistent run in the 2017 edition of the cash-rich domestic professional Twenty20 league, IPL. He featured in the Champions Trophy side as a middle-order batsman.
Well, having earlier proven himself as an aggressor down the order for the Men in Blue, Jadhav had rightfully cemented his spot.
However, he surprised one and all when Indian skipper Virat Kohli handed him the ball in the middle overs. He did wonders making it a habit breaking crucial partnerships in successive matches for India.
What attracted the most was his uncanny round arm bowling action. Known as the Maling style, Kedar soon became a social media sensation. Now, it has divulged on the reason behind that unique bowling action.
Speaking to India Today, Kedar Jadhav admitted that it came by chance while he was trying different things.
He also revealed that he tried this action in matches and as results started coming and he decided to rely on it.
“I certainly haven’t been bowling it all along. But I like creativity so when I was bowling, I realised off-spinners are usual. Anyone who does not know to bowl will bowl off-spin. That’s when I tried a few new things like the side arm ball and it worked. I tried it in the match and it got me wickets so stuck with it,” Jadhav revealed.
