Kensington Oval is all set to host the first day-night Test in West Indies against Sri Lanka on June 23. An official release from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed the same.

It will be Windies’ third feature in a day-night Test while Sri Lanka will play their second. Lankans claimed a dominant victory over Pakistan in their maiden appearance in October 2017.

The schedule released by Cricket West Indies (CWI) had Kensington Oval as the venue for the second Test while Darren Sammy Cricket Ground was chosen for the third and final Test.

However, the recent release from SLC has cleared the air, indicating a swap of venues for Tests second and third. Sri Lanka will visit the Caribbean nation after a gap of 10 years. They drew the series 1-1 the last time they visited in March 2008.

CWI wanted a day-night Test, but we (SLC) had told them that it has to be either the first or the last Test. They decided to make it the last,” SLC CEO Ashley de Silva told Cricbuzz.

Sri Lanka will start their tour with a three-day practice match. The match will commence on May 30 at Brian Lara Cricket Ground.
